Aditi Sharma, MD

Dr. Aditi Sharma has a clinical focus in the diagnosis and treatment of neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis. She is passionate about patient care and also serves as a co-investigator and blinded evaluator for multiple clinical trials at the University of Kansas Center for Multiple Sclerosis.

Dr. Sharma went to medical school in India and then joined the clinical and translational neuromuscular research program at the Yale School of Medicine. Her lab research with the Guthy-Jackson Foundation under the mentorship of Dr. Kevin O’Connor focused on novel, high-throughput assays studying serum and cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers in neuromyelitis optica. She was also in charge of the development, successful launch and maintenance of the EXPLORE-MG (myasthenia gravis) registry using REDCap, which enabled this to be used as a tool to study MG patients longitudinally.

During residency, Dr. Sharma found herself particularly drawn toward neuroimmunology, especially the intersection with multiple areas of biomedical science such as systemic autoimmunity, vaccines, infections and possibly even neurodegenerative disease. She did a fellowship in autoimmune neurology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and moved to Kansas City to join the University of Kansas as a faculty member in the Center for Multiple Sclerosis.

In her spare time, Dr. Sharma likes to run, walk around Kansas City and try different kinds of cuisine.
