About

Dr. Adam Kidwell is a hematologist specializing in cellular therapy for malignant and nonmalignant blood disorders. He cares for patients undergoing stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies, as well as those with bleeding, clotting, and bone marrow disorders. He believes excellent care always begins with listening and meeting people where they are. He strives to help patients and their families understand their diagnosis, treatment options and what to expect so they feel informed and supported when making difficult decisions.

Dr. Kidwell is active in clinical research focused on improving outcomes for patients with hematologic diseases. He participates in several national professional societies and presents his work nationally and internationally. His research has received several honors, including the American Society of Hematology Abstract Achievement Award.

Before joining The University of Kansas Health System and The University of Kansas Cancer Center, Dr. Kidwell graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri with a degree in biochemistry and earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He then completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics, followed by a hematology and oncology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he served as chief fellow. During fellowship, he received the Medical College of Wisconsin Research and Quality Improvement Award and the Fellow Research Award.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Kidwell enjoys playing basketball, watching sports and spending time with friends. Above all, he treasures time with his wife, children and their dog.
