Bertram W Maidment, III, MD

Dr. Bert W. Maidment III is a radiation oncologist and medical director of radiation oncology at The University of Kansas Cancer Center in Olathe. He emphasizes open communication, an interpersonal approach to care and patient involvement in treatment decisions. He accepts referrals for all cancer types but has a specific interest in providing stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiosurgery for prostate cancer, lung cancer and oligometastatic disease.

He is certified by the American Board of Radiology with a subcertification in radiation oncology.

Dr. Maidment was raised in Overland Park, Kansas, and completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed a residency in radiation oncology at the University of Virginia, where he served as chief resident.

He was elected by his peers into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, which recognizes those who excel in providing compassionate and humanistic care to patients. He returned to his hometown, Kansas City, to practice radiation oncology in 2017.

He was a partner and executive vice president of a private radiation oncology practice between 2017 and 2022. In 2023, he joined The University of Kansas Health System as a radiation oncologist and the University of Kansas Medical Center as a clinical assistant professor.

He and his wife, Christa, have 3 children. Outside of work, he devotes his free time to his wife and children. He enjoys ice hockey, food and travel.
