David A Duchene, MD

Born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Dr. Duchene received his undergraduate degree in biology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed medical school training, general surgery internship and urology residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and then finished an Endourological Society fellowship in laparoscopic and robotic urological surgery and stone disease at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Dr. Duchene is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) and South Central Section of the AUA. He is also an active member in the Endourological Society. He is the immediate past president of the Kansas Urologic Society. Dr. Duchene has written several peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters in the field of urology and serves as a reviewer for multiple publications, including the Journal of Urology, Urology and the Journal of Endourology. He is an editor for the New Technologies in Endourology section of the Journal of Endourology and a Practical Reviews in Urology literature reviewer. In addition to numerous presentations at international, national and regional meetings, Dr. Duchene instructs residents in laparoscopic surgery techniques in dry labs, animal labs and during live surgeries.

Dr. Duchene has special interest in the urologic application of minimally invasive surgical techniques to urologic tumors, adrenal disorders, renal reconstruction and kidney stones. This includes using the da Vinci© robotic platform to perform robotic radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, robotic pyeloplasty for ureteropelvic junction obstruction and robotic ureteral reimplantation for ureteral strictures. He also offers laparoscopic ablation therapy (cryotherapy and radiofrequency ablation) and robotic partial nephrectomy for kidney lesions and endoscopic procedures for kidney stones.
