Emily R Newton, MD

Dr. Emily Newton is a thoracic surgeon who is dedicated to providing expert, patient-centered care for individuals with conditions affecting the lungs, esophagus, diaphragm and chest wall. Her clinical interests include the surgical treatment of lung and esophageal cancer, hiatal hernias and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), as well as disorders of the diaphragm and chest wall.

She offers a full range of surgical options, from traditional open procedures to advanced minimally invasive techniques such as robot-assisted thoracic surgery and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). These approaches allow for precise surgical intervention through smaller incisions, often resulting in less pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery times while maintaining the same high standards of safety and oncologic outcomes.

Dr. Newton's practice is built on a commitment to individualized care and collaboration. Dr. Newton completed her fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at University of Kansas after completing general surgery training at the University of North Carolina. She earned her medical degree from St. Louis University.
