Ernest J Madarang, MD

Dr. Ernest Madarang is certified by the American Board of Radiology with a subcertification in interventional radiology, neurointerventional radiology and diagnostic neuroradiology. His practice philosophy is to use the best evidence-based medicine to help guide his treatment decisions and to provide compassionate, timely and leading-edge care to patients.

He's dedicated to excellence in comprehensive, minimally invasive care of patients with stroke, brain aneurysms, AVMs, CSF-venous fistulae (spontaneous intracranial hypotension caused by cerebrospinal fluid leaks), vertebral augmentation/ablation procedures (kyphoplasty) and many other diseases in the head, neck and spine.

He is the first physician in the region to offer RFA (radiofrequency ablation) of thyroid nodules. A new, image-guided therapy to treat thyroid nodules as an alternative to traditional surgery. His practice is equipped to manage the initial encounter, ultrasound-guided biopsy and RFA of thyroid nodules if indicated.

Dr. Madarang has completed 3 fellowships. These include diagnostic neuroradiology at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, as well as subsequent fellowships in vascular/interventional radiology and neurointerventional radiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is also certified by the American Board of Neurosurgery with recognition of focused practice in central nervous system endovascular surgery (RFP-CNS-ES). He's one of only a handful of senior members in the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS) practicing in the state of Kansas. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency at St. Luke's Medical Center.
