Dr. Forat Lutfi is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subcertification in hematology. His main clinical and research interests are in the realm of hematologic malignancies, also called blood cancers, particularly lymphoma, blood and marrow transplant, CAR T-cell therapy and other emerging immune effector cell therapies. He is driven by rapid advancements in the field to provide the most up-to-date care for patients in need. He believes that transparency, direct patient engagement and understanding a patient's core values are the keys to a successful patient-physician relationship.
A native Floridian, he completed medical school and his internal medicine residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology and a subfellowship in stem cell transplant and cellular therapy at the University of Maryland Medical Center. During fellowship, he spent 1 year conducting translational research on graft-versus-host disease as a National Institutes of Health T32-funded fellow.
In his spare time, Dr. Lutfi enjoys exploring Kansas City and is a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Florida State Seminoles.
