About Jamie L Weiser

Dr. Jamie Weiser provides comprehensive routine and medical eye care for pediatric patients age 21 and under. She specializes in managing medically complex children with behavior challenges and/or developmental disabilities. Services include fitting and prescription of contact lenses and glasses, myopia (nearsightedness) progression management treatments, and common pediatric diagnoses, including strabismus disorders of esotropia (crossed eyes) and exotropia (wandering eye), amblyopia (lazy eye), refractive errors of myopia, hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism, red eyes (infections, allergies, inflammation) and eye trauma/injuries.

Dr. Weiser’s clinical approach is to create a trusting and open relationship with her patients and their families. When there are multiple options, she loves to make decisions with her patients, not for them. She continuously works to strengthen the doctor-patient relationship for improved patient care.

Prior to joining the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Kansas in September 2022, Dr. Weiser created and supervised the pediatric optometry residency program at Children’s Wisconsin and Medical College of Wisconsin. She is passionate about educating our newest doctors to take great care of kids. Dr. Weiser is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry, which is the optometric equivalent of board-certification. She earned her optometry degree from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis College of Optometry and completed her residency in pediatric optometry at Children's Mercy Hospital.
