Kamal Gupta, MD

Dr. Kamal Gupta is a board-certified cardiovascular physician specializing in vascular disease and interventional cardiology. He received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, and did his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas in Houston where he was chief resident. He did his cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology training at the Texas Heart Institute/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he was chief fellow and also received the outstanding fellow award. He is board-certified in cardiovascular medicine, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine and endovascular medicine. He is one of the very few cardiologists in the country who is a certified clinical hypertension specialist.

Along with looking after patients with coronary artery disease and performing coronary interventions, Dr. Gupta specializes in a wide variety of vascular diseases. He has significant expertise in the medical and interventional management of peripheral artery disease, carotid artery disease as well as aortic aneurysms. He also has clinical and research interests in rare vascular diseases including fibromuscular dysplasia, for which he runs a specialty clinic. He is also the co-director of the complex hypertension program for the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Dr. Gupta believes in caring for the whole patient in a holistic manner which includes attention to risk factors and lifestyle, medical treatment and interventional treatment of cardiovascular disease. He is also involved in clinical trials and research to foster innovation and development of newer and better therapies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. When he is not working, Dr. Gupta enjoys spending time with his family and walking his dogs.
