About Lisa M Vopat

As an athlete herself, Dr.Lisa Vopat, sports medicine specialist, understands what it takes to care for patients eager to return to play and believes in individualized care and being accessible to her patients throughout their recovery process. She treats injuries in pediatric and adult athletes in all sports.

Dr. Vopat is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine with a subcertification in sports medicine. She completed a fellowship in sports medicine through Harvard Medical School at Boston Children's Hospital. She earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed her residency through Brown University at Rhode Island Hospital.

She is a lecturer on relative energy deficiency in sport and specializes in bone health evaluations for athletes as well as management of disordered eating. Dr. Vopat is a consulting physician for Kansas Athletics, serving athletes at the University of Kansas, and she addresses conditions of low energy availability to optimize health and performance. Dr. Vopat also specializes in treating athletes with sports-related concussions.

While her initial goal is for patients to recover from injuries, she believes success is truly achieved if an athlete is given the knowledge and tools to prevent injury in the future. She is an advocate for healthy living and injury prevention, allowing athletes to pursue their goals.
