About Michael J. Zuniga

Dr. Zuniga is a family medicine physician at MCMC Family Medicine, part of the University of Kansas Health System, where he is honored to care for patients in the Osawatomie community.

His path to medicine wasn't a straight line. After graduating from Kansas State University, Dr. Zuniga was deployed to Kuwait and Jordan with the 2-137th Infantry Battalion, where he served as a chaplain's assistant. That experience instilled in him discipline, teamwork, and a deep understanding of what it means to show up for people when it counts — lessons he carries with him every day in the exam room. He went on to attend medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine–Salina, a campus dedicated to training physicians for rural practice, reflecting his commitment to rural medicine from the very start. He completed his family medicine residency at Texas A&M in Bryan, Texas.

Rural healthcare is Dr. Zuniga's passion. He believes good care starts with listening, and he makes it a priority to hear his patients' concerns, answer their questions, and work with them to find the right path forward. Whether a patient is coming in for a routine checkup or managing a chronic condition, he is committed to making sure they feel heard and get the help they deserve.
