Dr. Nanuli Gvazava is a medical oncologist at The University of Kansas Cancer Center. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subcertification in medical oncology.

She specializes in the care and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, with expertise across a broad range of gastrointestinal malignancies, including colorectal, anal, esophageal, gastric, pancreatic, hepatobiliary and small bowel cancers, as well as gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. She is particularly interested in using molecular information about each patient’s cancer to guide treatment decisions and identify opportunities for targeted therapies, immunotherapy and other novel treatments.

Dr. Gvazava is actively involved in clinical research focused on advancing treatment approaches and improving outcomes for patients with gastrointestinal cancers. Dr. Gvazava believes that caring for patients begins with listening. She takes the time to explain diagnoses and treatment options in clear, understandable language and encourages patients to ask questions. She strives to ensure that each patient feels heard, supported and confident in the decisions they make together. She is committed not only to providing expert cancer care, but also to helping patients manage symptoms and feel supported by their care team at every step of their cancer journey.

Dr. Gvazava completed a fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from Tbilisi State Medical University and completed her residency at the University of Missouri Columbia School of Medicine.
