Dr. Tim Sowder is board-certified in interventional pain management and uses his skills to help patients recover function that has been lost due to pain and injury. Using a thorough evaluation, he provides a customized treatment plan tailored to each individual person and condition. He works to provide the same level of outstanding, compassionate care to each patient that he would give his own friends and family. He stays up to date on the latest treatment innovations to ensure he is offering the safest, most effective treatments available. He is also active in clinical research and has authored book chapters and peer-reviewed articles as well as presented posters at national conferences.
Dr. Sowder’s areas of expertise include low back pain, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, sciatica, radiculopathy, failed back syndrome, facet pain, compression fractures, cancer pain, neck pain, occipital neuralgia, neuropathy, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), sacroiliitis and joint pain. He specializes in ultrasound- and fluoroscopy-guided procedures, including nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablations, kyphoplasty, vertebroplasty, spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, Intracept® procedure (basivertebral nerve ablation), minimally invasive lumbar decompression, minimally invasive spine fusion and intrathecal pumps.
Dr. Sowder is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he was elected Chief Resident. He then completed a multidisciplinary pain medicine fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
