Tolga H Tuncer, MD

Tolga Tuncer, MD, is a combined board-certified neuro-oncologist, medical oncologist and internal medicine specialist with a unique background in radiation oncology. His areas of special interest include brain tumors, gliomas, spinal cord tumors, brain metastases and central nervous system lymphoma, head and neck cancers, small cell lung cancer and nonsmall cell lung cancer and various thoracic neoplasms. He is sensitive to the uniqueness of each patient's situation and adapts his consultations and treatment options appropriately to accommodate individual needs and concerns.

Born in the U.S. and raised in Ankara, Turkey, Dr. Tuncer attended Ankara Üniversitesi Tip Fakültesi, Ankara, where he received his medical degree. He then completed multiple residencies in internal medicine at Upstate Medical University, UMASS and Dignity Health and in radiation oncology at the Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, followed by a fellowship at Ohio State University Hospital. He also completed 4 fellowships in radiation oncology at Lund University in Sweden and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), in neuro-oncology at the prestigious Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, and in hematology and oncology at the University of Arizona, Tucson, consecutively.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in internal medicine and medical oncology and by the United Council for Neurological Subspecialties (UCNS) in neuro-oncology. He is board-eligible in hematology and holds a board certification in radiation oncology from Turkey.

Dr. Tuncer welcomes patients who speak English, Turkish and some German. His awareness of these different languages makes him accessible to patients from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
