About William P Parker

William P. Parker, MD, is a urologic oncologist at The University of Kansas Health System and an associate professor of Urology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was born in Georgia and received his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia before attending the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his urology residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Prior to joining our faculty, he completed a Society for Urologic Oncology (SUO) fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Parker is a national expert in prostate cancer. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in prostate cancer and gives educational lectures nationally on the subject of prostate cancer screening, diagnosis, and management. He is the senior editor of the American Urological Association Core Curriculum in Oncology , which serves as the source material for the education of urologic residents throughout the nation. Locally, he is a strong advocate for prostate cancer screening and men's health. As a faculty member, Dr. Parker participates in the education of residents in the clinical management and surgical procedures associated with the treatment of prostate cancer.

Clinically, Dr. Parker focuses on the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of men at risk for and diagnosed with prostate cancer. He has a special focus in image guided diagnosis and advanced robotic surgical techniques. He has performed >1,000 robotic prostatectomies, and focuses on advancing the field of quality of life promoting approaches including the Space of Retzius Sparing Prostatectomy (https://www.kansashealthsystem.com/news-room/blog/2022/06/prostectomy-robotic-surgery) and nerve sparing techniques.
